OTAGO ASSOCIATION

REVIEW OF PAST YEAR

The fifty-third annual report of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association states that while the weather was somewhat broken the oeginning of the season, it improved and interest in the various competitions was well maintained Some excellent tennis was witnessed in the interclub matches. Good'progress was being made with the game in the primary and secondary schools, and this factor augured well for the future. Tuapeka Sub-association 40 TahTi Plains 78 Repairs to the courts and association’s property were carried out during the year. Two new courts, are being laid down, and the committee trusts that arrangements will be made to top-dress the courts at regular intervals, . i The financial position of the association. is not as satisfactory as could be

desired. As the committee is continually faced with expenditure in maintaining the courts in good repair, it appears essential that ways and means ,must be found to improve the financial position. Members should realise that the courts belong to the tennis players of Dunedin, and should heartily support any project to improve the association’s property, and to increase the number of courts at Logan Park. ST. KILDA CLUB The thirty-fourth annual meeting of the St. Kilda Lawn Tennis Club was held on Tuesday night. There was a good attendance of members, the president (Mr J. J Marlow) being in the chair. , „ Moving the adoption of the annual report, the president, referred to the success achieved during the past season, especially congratulating the intermediate team, which had been successful in winning its competition. The annual report and balance sheet which showed a very satisfactory position, were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President. Mr J.
