Every evidence of Japanese friendship was shown at a gathering held on a Japanese motor ship in Auckland recently when the captain invited Auckland citizens to view the painting of tiie Japanese warship Izuki and H.M.A.S. Melbourne convoying troop transports during the Great War. The painting, executed by R. Arai. a leading Japanese artist, was viewed in a space in one of the ’tween decks and was bordered by large Australian and Japanese flags.
