MASTER AND SERVANT
BASIS OF RELATIONSHIP HONESTY TAKEN FOR GRANTED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 9. "There is nothing more irritating than to hear the plea that the employers were lax when the whole basis of the relationship between master and. servant is that the servant is supposedly honest and will protect the master's property," stated the magistrate (Mr J. H. Luxford) in dealing with cases of thefts from Dominion Motors. The accused were Jack Clifford Miller, aged 25, a painter. Noel Denis Rodgers, aged 28, a car assembler, and Dorr Septimus Stewart Ranson, aged 27, also an assembler. The thefts included tins of lacquer, quantities of oil and benzine dome lights, and roofing material. , ~, , Miller was fined £ls and admitted to probation for 12 months, and an order for restitution was made; Ranson was fined £5, with probation for 12 months and an order for restitution; and Rodgers was fined £5. and admitted to probation for 12 months.
