THE AUSTRALIAN BILL SECOND READING CARRIED CANBERRA, June 8. The second reading of the Bill to establish a compulsory national register of man-power was carried in the House of Representatives by 34 votes to 25. A motion for a military census, moved by the former Postmaster-general (Mr Cameron;, was defeated by 48 votes to 14.
