LOTTE LEHMANN
ACCLAIMED BY CRITICS Few artists visiting Australia have received such spontaneous acclamation from critics and public alike as that accorded to Lotte Lehmann, worldfamous soprano, during her recent triumphant tour of the Commonwealth. Madam Lehmann, acknowledged the most versatile singer of the day, is visiting Dunedin for the first time, and will give one concert at the Main Town Hall on Thursday, June 15. “Vivid drama, romance and refreshing humour were part of Lotte Lehmann's programme when the distinguished singer gave proof of her remarkable versatility in emotional expression' and command of tone," stated a Sydney critic. “She delights her audiences from beginning to end whether she is singing arias, opera, lieder or more modern compositions. She reveals a purity and dignity of style that it unsurpassed, and her work is always touched with that optimistic radiance which has always been one of her endearing characteristics. The quality of her voice is just as compelling as ever: its power to colour a line or a phrase just as lovely.” Box plans are now open to the general public at the D.I.C.
