AMUSED TOLERANCE
LABOUR’S EXPERIMENTS ATTITUDE IN ENGLAND (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 8. The opinion was expressed in England that the Minister of Finance (Mr Walter Nash) would probably get the loan he required, though possibly at a higher rate of interest than would have been the case had the Government’s financial schemes not been so unorthodox, said Mr F. G. Williamson, of Wellington, who returned this week from a visit to England and the Continent. It was also considered certain that “ tags ” would be attached to the loan, as a creditor lending money to a spendthrift debtor would naturally take some steps to safeguard his own interests and sec that the money was not thrown away. The experiments of the New Zealand Government were being watched in England with amused toleration, he continued. Britain was not seriously concerned with them. There was a genuine feeling of goodwill towards the Dominion, but there was possibly less confidence in the outcome of its present policy.
