DRUIDISM

The half-yearly meeting of Linden Lodge was presided over by D.P. Bro. H. .Tyrell, and there was a good attendance of officers and members. D.F. Bro. R. Morrison was accorded a hearty welcome. The treasurer, Bro. Ingle, Lily of the Valley Lodge, was a welcome visitor. Two clearances to the Gore Lodge were granted to brethren transferred to the southern city. The election of officers resulted as follows: A D., Bro. McKenzie; V.A., Bro. Lewis; secretary, Bro. A. Walker: treasurer, Bro. R. H. Rusbridge; I.G. Bro. Webb; 0.G., Bro. Hewitt; A.D.8., Bros. Adkins and Freeman; V.A.8., Bros. J. Tyrell and Hindes; 1.P.A., Bro. H. Martin; M.C.P.A., Bro. A Fraser; auditors, Bros. Sunderland and Morrison; press reporter, Bro. Rusbridge; Vigilance Committee—Bros. Walker Sunderland and Morrison; pianist. Bro. Hinde. Bay Lodge No. 18 held its half-yearly meeting on May 29, when Arch Druid, Bro. A. Carnachan, presided over an excellent attendance of members. D.P. Bro. W. H. Leßrun attended officially and was given a cordial reception as also were P.G.P. Bro. C. Jacobsen and Secretary Bro. Webb, as visitors. Sympathetic reference was made to the death of P.G.P. Bro. W. Connor, and

the lodge carried out the customary motion of respect and also sent a letter of sympathy to the relatives. An invitation to ' attend . a complimentary social evening to G.P. Bro. A. J. Hintori was accepted from the Royal Oak Lodge. The Royal Arch Chapter wrote drawing attention to a Vice Arch Charge Competition to be held in con* junction with their- meeting on June

13. P.A. Bro. J. H. Clinch, in giving his report on the U.F.S. Dispensary Council meeting, stated that Grand Sec. Bro. W. B. Steel had relinquished active interest in the council, the lodge passed a resolution of appreciation of Bro. Steel's services, which had extended over many years. Pianist Bro. R. Maslin, having been transferred to a position in Cromwell, has for the time Being severed his connection with the lodge. Bro. Maslin received a vote of thanks and appreciation and a letter of congratulation on his new appointment. The combined Druids' Lodges will entertain the Court of Woodlands Pride Lady Forresters in the Ivanhoe Lodge Room, Stuart street, on June 21. Several members reported on visits to the various lodges in the city. Arch Druid Bro. Carnachan reported on the visit of 20 members to the Duntroon Lodge on May 29, Duntroon Lodge had received them in the true 1 iruidic spirit. Bay Lodge conducted an initiation ceremony and carried out the business of the evening. A lengthy toast list, interspersed with song and story, was carried out before returning home. On the Sunday the members visited the hydro works at Kurow, and also the Special School at Otekaike, fine weather prevailing throughout the trip. The election of officers, with the scrutineers D.P. Bro. Leßrun and P.G.P. Bro. C. Jacobsen, resulted as follows:—Arch Druid, Bro. W>. A. Ruston; Vice Arch. Bro. W. A. Pater-

son; treasurer. Bro. R. A. Tyler (reelected); master of ceremonies. Bro. J, H. Johnston; inside guardian Bro. H. J. Hughes; outside guardian. Bro. A Horwood; Arch Druid bards, Bros. J. H. Clinch and Thomas Bartlett (reelected); Vice Arch bards, Bros. Leathley and C. Idour; past Arch Druid, Bro. A. Carnachan; auditors, Bro. C. Jacobsen and P.S. Bro. R. S. Webb (re-elected); stewards—Bros. Young, Smail. Hay and Clinch. The lodge then discussed the pamphlet issued by the Grand Lodge in regard to social security. Bros. D. A. Young and J. H. Clinch explained several points of interest to lodge members, for which they were thanked. The toasts were given and replied to by D.P. Bro. Le Brun, who thanked the lodge for the invitation to accompany them to Duntroon Lodge.
