THE FARMER'S PROBLEMS
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—l have followed with interest the reports in your paper of the meetings of farmers held at Oamaru and Ranfurly Practically the same resolution regarding the guaranteed price was passed at each meeting. . I notice that Messrs Waite and Cameron appeared at each meeting among the principal speakers. Just what qualifications these two gentlemen possess to act as advisers to the farmers I would be interested to ..know. Now, if the farmers are absolutely opposed to a guaranteed price, as the resolutions passed at these meetings would make us believe, why not take a vote on the question and then have something concrete to put forward when making representations for relief by other sources? Present indications seem to point to the farmers being forced to a position where they will have to seek help, so why not get it over? From present appearances the result would never be in doubt. I would also suggest that the Farmers' Union should forget its political views and get down to what it now pretends to be and try that as a means of increasing membership.— I am, etc.. Mortgagor.
