—ri NEED OF NEW ALLEGIANCE ARCHBISHOP’S APPEAL , ; LONDON, :May 16. The Archbishop of Canterbury, representatives of the Free Churches of the Church of Scotland, and others signed a call to prayer at Whitsuntide in which, they emphasise the world’s need of a new allegiance to Christ’s ideal. The appeal describes the world as being dominated by fea!r, and says there can be no security in a world of armed camps. The deepest need is the rising up of a Spirit which will lead the nations and their rulers to try to be good l neighbours. The spirit of Christ alohe can bring the troubled world the blessing of peace. !
