DOG TRIALS
STRATH-TAIERI COLLIE CLUB THIRTY-SECOND ANNUAL FIXTURE The thirty-second annual dog trials under the auspices of the Strath-Taieri Collie Club was held at “ Robertslee, Middlemarch, on Monday and Tuesday. The trial ground was all that could be desired, but unfortunately a northwest gale was blowing throughout the first day, which made conditions most unpleasant, and the judge expressed the opinion that, owing to weather conditions. the usual high standard of work was not maintained. The weather on the second day was much improved and better work was -witnessed. A large number of spectators was present during the afternoon. The club is indebted to its patron (Mr A. McKinnon) for the use of his around, and also for supplying suitable sheep for the trials. Much of the credit for the success of the trials was due to the enthusiasm of the president (Mr J. L, Allan) and the secretary (Mr T. A. Thompson). Mr J. Mcßae, of Waimate, was judge of the huntaway events, and Mr J. A Nelson of the heading classes. A feature of the trials was the unprecedented success, against all comers, of the veteran competitor, Mr A. McK. Matheson, with his dog Glen.
