WOMAN VOCALIST CONTEST

To keep up the reputation of always being able to give the patrons of the popular Town Hall dance something different the management is now featuring a woman vocalist contest. This competition will commence on Saturday night at the Main Town Hall. The successful competitor is promised four nights’ engagement with Mr Dick Colvin’s radio band at the Town Hall dance on Saturday nights, with probably further engagements with Mr Dick Colvin’s band. Intending competitors are asked to send their entry to Messrs Begg and Co., Princes street, before Friday, stating the number they wish to feature. The competition will be judged by popular vote. Last Saturday night two bands were engaged. Mr Dick Colvin’s band supplied the music for the modern dances, and Mr Ellison’s Maori Band for the old-time dances. These two bands will again be featured on Saturday night. The novice dancing contest will be held on Saturday, May 27.
