MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Thursday, January 26 (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Undefended Cases Judgment was given for the plaintiffs in the following undefended cases:—Solomon, Gascoigne, Solomon and Sinclair v. Raymond Edward Duncan, claim £4 Is 6d, money lent, with costs (£1 11s 6d); Nimmo and Blair, Ltd. v. Hop Lee (Gisborne) claim £2 10s for goods supplied, with costs (£1 7s 6d); A. Thompson and Son, Ltd. v. J. P. Harvey (Christchurch), claim £7 7s sd. amount due under contract for sale of goods, with costs (£1 11s 6d); McPherson, Kemp and Co., Ltd, v. J. Hansen (Wyndham), claim £l4 17s 7d, for goods supplied, with costs (£3 11s). Judgment Summons Allan E. Young proceeded against James F. Smith, claiming £35 16s on a judgment summons. —There was no appearance of the judgment debtor, who was ordered to pay the amount due, with costs (£1 ss), in default one month’s imprisonment. The warrant was suspended provided he paid 30s a week. Possession of House Ella Lister (Mr W. Ward), the owner of a house at 49 Grange street, proceeded against William R. Best (Mr O. G. Stevens) claiming possession.—After hearing evidence the magistrate refused to make an order, but gave judgment for the plaintiff for £8 17s Id, the amount of rent due since the proceedings were instituted.
