CANADIAN WHEAT

DISPOSAL OF THE SURPLUS TRADE WITH GERMANY WINNIPEG, Dec. 15. A revival of trade with Germany was proposed at the Wheat Conference as a means of aiding in the disposal of Canada's huge surplus. Mr H. L_. Griffen (United Gram Growers' Company statistician) stated that no dislike for German political developments should blind Canada to the fact that the greatest opportunity for improving trade was to be found in Germany. Dr F. H. Schreiber, a Winnipeg importer, urged that the wheat provinces pledge themselves to buy German goods to the value of the wheat sold to Germany. Mr L. A. Whaeler, chief of the United States Agricultural Service, stated that if the present wheat average was maintained by the wheat-growing countries they must reconcile themselves to producing 250,000,000 bushels more annually than could be exported.
