Early morning risers at Russell one day last week were treated to an amazing display of broaching and acrobatics by a large school of 40 or 50 porpoises. Playing round for well over an hour, and leaping from the water eight, nine and ten at a time, the mammals moved at a fast pace from Russell Point over toward Pahia and Waitangi. and were last seen leaping and splashing off the Brampton buoy.
