STABLE HANDS’ UNION

DEMANDS FOR AN AWARD RACING OWNERS DISCUSS POSITION (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, June 17. A meeting of about 50 racing owners and trainers was held at Riccarton last night to discuss the demands made for an award by the Stable Hands’ Union. Mr G. R. Hunter, M.L.C., presided, and Mr H. R. Sellers, secretary of the Racing Conference, was present. The demands of the union were gone into in detail, and in the discussion the point was stressed that the conditions of work differed substantially in racing and trotting stables. t A committee was appointed to meet representatives from the Trotting Owners and Breeders’ Association next week. After this conference arrangements will be made for a meeting with representatives of the union to discuss the demands for an award.
