SHOOTING ACCIDENT
DEATH OF YOUNG BOY TRAGEDY AT SEACLIFF James Graham McArthur, aged 15 years and il months, the son of an attendant at the Seacliff Mental Hospital. was accidentally killed whileshooting rabbits on Friday. The boy was apparently holding his rifle by the barrel and using it to poke something out of the bushes when the weapon discharged. The bullet entered his head, causing death. An inquest was held at Seacliff on Saturday afternoon before the coroner (Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.), the proceedings being conducted by Constable Hayward. The deceased’s father. Archibald McArthur, gave evidence of identification, and Archibald Leslie Aitcheson gave evidence concerning the finding of the body. Dr M. Brown, superintendent of the Seacliff Mental Hospital, stated that death had been caused by a wound in the head, and a verdict was returned that the deceased met his death as the result of being accidentally shot.
