COMPLETE AGREEMENT REACHED —— 7 f [ j TERMS OF NEW AWARD (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. A complete agreement was reached' *' in the Wellington tile layers’ dispute in Conciliation Council to-day. The following were the wage rates fixed; —Minimum rate for outside tile, workers, 2s 9d an hour; for workers 1 ' employed on tile surrounds and slabs, 2s 6d. In shops where more than one journeyman is employed, the worker who is in charge and who is respon- _ sible. is to receive Is a day extra.''- 1 ' The worker at present receiving higher wage than the rate fixed is not to be affected by the new rate while his present employment continues. The"’ 1 - 1 new rates are to come into force as from Monday, December 13. A 40-hour, five-day week was agreed.., on, and the following provision was ; ‘ f " made in relation to piece-workers’ rates: —“Workers on piece-work before 7.30 a.m. or after 5 p.m,, or working in excess of eight hours a day, l ' ‘ shall be considered to be working overtime, and such time is to be paid for at the rate of time-and-a-half for the first four hours and double rates there- 1 ' after.” Work done on holidays or Sundays is to be paid for at double rates.
