MERCANTILE MARINE
DEVELOPMENT IN AMERICA STARTING OWN AIR SERVICES WASHINGTON, Nov. 30. The development of the United States mercantile marine in the direction of aerial activity is foreshadowed in the Bill introduced in the House of Representatives designed to broaden the powers of the Maritime Commission. The measure includes an amendment to give the commission jurisdiction over transoceanic air services and to authorise subsidies to steamship lines for the purpose of building up their own air services.
