TEMUKA

Effect of Late Frosts As a result of losses caused by late frosts, the fruitgrowers of the Temuka district confidently expect a rise in prices for all stone fruit this season. Many orchardists have lost nearly all their crops of plums and peaches. Retailers, when interviewed, stated that they would, probably look to Central Otago to supply the deficiency for the coming Christmas season. Calf Export Committee Monday was the last day for calf collection under the scheme of the South Canterbury Calf Export Committee for the present season. With the good prices offering, an early start was made this year. The total number collected was 4384, an increase of 448 over the number collected last year.
