WAITAHUNA

Presbyterian Church There was a good attendance at a congregational meeting of the Waitahuna' Presbyterian Church last Friday night. The Rev. F. W. Winton (Lawrence), interim moderator, was in the chair, and opened the meeting with prayer. It was unanimously decided that a call be addressed to the Rev. Andrew J. Wardlaw (Lower Hutt). Messrs R. McCaw, N. McCorkindale (Manuka Creek), and D. Webster (Waitahuna West) were appointed commissioners to attend the Clutha Presbytery meeting to-morrow in support of the call, and it was decided that, should Mr Wardlaw accept the call, the induction be fixed for December 7,8, or 9, whichever date best suited the presbytery Before the conclusion of the meeting, Mr S. Webster spoke of the splendid services of Mr A. W. Maddock (a student from Knox College), who had filled the Waitahuna vacancy during the past two months, and it was unanimously decided that the clerk of the session prepare an appreciatory minute. Mr Maddock briefly replied, thanking Mr Webster and the meeting for their appreciation. He had much enjoved his stay in Waitahuna, and was very grateful for the friendliness and hospitality that had been extended to him.
