TELEVISION SYSTEM
POSITION IN BRITAIN SINGLE STANDARD ADOPTED \ LONDON, Feb. 5. The standardisation of the television system means that there will be no further transmissions by the Baird system from Alexandra Palace and that the Marconi E.M.I. system alone will be employed. Mr Baird told the News Chronicle that his experiments would not be affected by the decision, which was taken in the interest of economy. Baird shares have fallen and E.M.I. shares have risen sharply. WHAT THE DECISION MEANS LONDON, Feb. 5. Baird Television, Ltd-, has issued a statement that it had been assured that the decision does not mean setting up a monopolistic situation and it cannot be too strongly emphasised that the adoption of a single stand- , ard does not mean the adoption of a particular system. The decision in no way diminished 'the commercial prospects or limits the trading policy of the company, also that it is continuing work in large screen kinema television and military and other non-entertainment aspects.
