FIRE IN BOATSHED

TWO LAUNCHES' DESTROYED; OWNERS’ HEAVY LOSS (Peb United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. ' Fire gutted the boatshed of the Hutt Valley Motor Boat Club at daybreak to-day. Two launches were destroyed, one, owned by Mr E, Hannan, valued at about £IOO, and the other, owned by Mr C. Garrood, valued at about £SOO. The latter was a 32ft launch luxuriously fitted and practically ready to take the water. The owner had spent over £350 on her. A workshop and clubroom containing a piano and fittings were destroyed with the building, which was a corrugated iron structure. The slipway was also burned. Nothing was insured, and the loss to the club and the members is estimated at between £IOOO and £I2OO. The fire had a. good hold when the brigade arrived. V'
