ART EXHIBITION

■<»' A\ very choice collection of oil paintings and water colours by celebrated English and Scottish artists, brought over from England by Mr R. Barnett, of Haymarket, London, are to be seen at the Pioneer Hall for a very few days. This opportunity of seeing really fine and beautiful paintings should not be missed. Included in this collection are several examples that were hung on the line in the Royal Academy. All the paintings are attractively framed, many of them in their original frames that were used by the artists. Yesterday’s sales were “ Going to Pasture,” by James Roberts; “Near Reading,” by George H. Hobson; “At Bucklebury, Berks,” by L. W. Cuthbert, R. 1.; and “ Monarchs of the Highlands,” by Louis B. Hurt. Among the many pictures that are creating attention and admiration are “ A Rest by the Way,” by Val C. Prinsep, R.A.; “The Toast,” by Professor E. Blanet; two very fine landscapes by E. Woodley Brown; “ At Paignton, Devon,” by James Peel, R.8.A.; “ In Knockholt Park, Kent,” by Theodore Hines; a pair of beautiful Venetian scenes by A. Pollentine; and “At Bideford Bay, North Devon,” by J. Kingsbury. The exhibition is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
