KETCH’S WORLD CRUISE

IDLE HOUR REACHES SYDNEY SYDNEY, March 19. (Received March 19, at 11.55 p.m.) In the course of a world cruise the 32-foot American ketch Idle Hour arrived at Sydney to-day, the voyage from Auckland having occupied 22 days. Three gales were encountered in the early stages, one necessitating the ketch being hove-to for 3(1 hours. She ran before another under bare poles. Almost a week of calms and light airs followed, prolonging the voyage on board. All arc well. The Aucklander, Len Campbell, is adhering to his original intention to remain in Australia, but the other Aucklander, Ivan Palmer, is continuing the voyage. The craft is expected to remain at Sydney for two or three weeks before proceeding northward to Barrier Reef, Singapore, and Sufz.
