MOURNING IN GREECE

DEATH OF M. VENIZELOS KING TO ATTEND FUNERAL LONDON, March 18. (Received March 19, at 5.5 p.m.) The Greek Government has decreed national mourning. All the political parties sent messages of condolences and the nation will bear the expense of the funeral, which King George, who personally telegraphed his sympathy to Madame Venizelos, will attend. Even Sir Basil ZaharofE broke many years of silence to express grief at the death of the great patriot. M. Venizelos’s wife and two sons were present at the deathbed. Congestion of the lungs supervened on influenza, and the heart failed to withstand the strain. SERVICE IN PARIS PARIS, March 18. The body of M. Venizelos will be embalmed and will be taken to Crete on March 23. The service will be held in the Greek Church in Paris on March 22, whence the body will be removed to the Gare du Lyon with military honours, as he was the possessor of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour.
