THE PRICE OF WHEAT

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The Government hns fixed the price of milling wheat at 4s Gd per bushel. Can you tell me why fowl wheat, an inferior article, is sold at 6s Gd per bushel.' If the price of one is fixed, would it not be as well to fix the price of fowl wheat? If it is because fowl wheat is scarce that the price is hipch. would it not be better to let Australian wheat in or else to sell all New Zealand wheat at one price? I have beard farmers say they prefer all their wheat to be sold as seconds or fowl s feed. Some 40 or 00 years ago fowl’s wheat was sold fop less than prime milling; now it is the other way. I do not know of any other inferior article that is sold at a hitcher price than the superior.— l am, etc., G. W. Kent. Milton, March 18.
