DUNEDIN CLUB'S EVENING MEETING The - Dunedin Amateur Cycling Club held its last meeting of the year at tlie Caledonian Ground last evening in good weather. The competition was very keen as the finals for all the cups were decided, and G. Sinclair, who was in brilliant form, gave easily the'best performance of the evening. G. Homer rode well in the Half Mile President's Cup Handicap. R. Fullerton, who came second, thereby gained the President's Cup for most points for the year. The following are the results: — HALF MILE PRESIDENT'S CUP HANDICAP. J. Hornell (90yds) .. .. •• 1 R. Fullerton (15yds) 2 J. Homer (scr.) .. .."..'.. 3 Six started, and although the back men teamed well they could not catch Hornell, who raced up the straight to win by three lengths, half a wheel separating second and third. Time, lmin ssec ONE MILE B GRADE. W. Black (15yds) 1 W. Chalmers (scr.) .... .. 2 J. Hornell (00yds) 3 This was the final for the Paul Cup for a special series of B Grade races. There were only three starters. The back men, Chalmers and Black, caught tire limit men after half a mile, and at the bell Black, who was just behind Chalmers, tried to make a break, but the latter went with him. Coming up the straight, however, Black managed to sprint ahead, and won by a quarter of a wheel, with 10 lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 27 3-ssec. By winning this event, Black holds the Paul Cup for the year. ONE MILE, A GRADE. G.Sinclair (35yds) 1 M. Hegarty (scr.) 2 A. Fletcher (30yds) 3 This was the linal of a series of races for the Walker and Hall Cup, and six started. The scratch men caught the field in the first lap, and the race was a procession till the final round', when the field was slowed down until, Homer tried to go out. Sinclair stuck with him and in a brilliant sprint came past the line half a length ahead of Hegarty, who had come up fast. Sinclair thus holds the Walker and Hall Cup for the season. Time, 2min 27 1-osec. TWO MILE OPEN HANDICAP. G. Sinclair (55yds) 1 W. Chalmers (85yda) 2 G. Homer (scr.) 3 This was a special race for the Crowe Cup, eight starting. After the first lap the field was in two bunches, Black and
Chalmers leading by 100 yards. With one mile to go the back markers had caught up, and after several slow laps, when the riders were manoeuvring for position, Hegarty made a break, but again Sinclair managed to go with him, and in a thrilling finish won by half a wheel from Chalmers, Hegarty having faded out. Homer, who also came up fast, was one length back, third. Time, smin 7 2-ssec. FLYING HALF MILE. There were several attempts during the meeting to better the time of G. Homer of lmin Bsec fori the Paterson Cup for the Half Mile Time Trial, flying start. G. Sinclair was the only rider to lower this figure, and by doing an excellent sprint of lmin fl 4-ssec gained the cup for the season.
