Conditions were excellent for the conclusion of the Ohinemuri meeting at Paeroa to-day, and there were some very interesting contests. > Showing improvement upon her first day’s running, Golden Sheila finished strongly to win the Waitekauri Handicap. Lady Archer dwelt badly at the start, and Philcniup was quickly in the lead from Golden Blonde, Golden Sheila and Marjorv Daw. Rounding the home turn Philemup was just in front of Marjory Daw, Palustre, Golden Blonde, Golden Sheila, and Summary. Once in line for the poet Golden Sheila challenged, and she went on in good style to win by a neck 1 from Philemup, who defeated Golden Blonde by a short head. Marjor- Daw was a close fourth, followed b” Palustre. Athea, and Alvthe, who finished very wide out. The winner is a fine type of filly, who is closely related to Gay Blonde, and looks like being useful. Master Musk justified Ills favouritism for the Second Handicap Hurdles by winning nicely. Modern Maid and The Hiker had turns in the lead in the early stages, and six furlongs from home The Hiker was in command from Modern Maid, Clan Ronald, and Racewhip, with Master Musk moving up. Near the half mile Modern Maid ran to the front, and she was joined at the home turn by Master Musk, the pair being well clear of The Hiker. Racewhip. and Clan Ronald As soon as they straightened up Master Musk drew away and won easily by five lengths from Modern Maid, who beat Racewhip by four lengths. The Hiker was a moderate fourth, followed by Clan Ronald.

It was with a brilliant run over the last half-mile that the seconcl_ fancy, Arawa Rose, scored in the Hikutaia Hack Cup, for which Con Fuoco was an each way favourite. Light Comedy made the early running from Ray Wind, Con Fuoco, Miss Hornet, and Valrent, with Arawa Rose a long wav back. Near the half-mile post Arawa Rose made a sharp dash on the outside, and at the home turn she held command from Light Comedy. Day Wind. Miss Hornet, and Con Fuoco. Nothing had a chance with Arawa Rose at the finish, and she drew away to win by three lengths from Light Comedy, with Day Wind half a length away, third. Con Fuoco was fourth.

Heads separated the placed horses in a great finish in the Shaw Handicap, and the each way favourite Kilberis emerged victorious. Royal Secret and Prince Colossus ran to the front quickly, and they made, the running from Sinking Fund and Kilberis. who were together ahead of Coronis and King Musk. At the top Prince Colossus drew clear, but Kilberis headed him at (he home turn, where King Musk, Royal Secret, and Sinking Fund were all handy. In a great race home Kilberis just stayed off Royal Secret. Sinking Fund, wide out, made a good finishing effort for third and King Musk was almost in lino fourth. The next to finish were Gay Rroney, Coronis. and Prince Colossus. The first four horses all ran good races and it was Kilberis’s best performance to date. Repeating her good finishing run of the first day Gav Sister scored decisively in the Waihi Handicap. Snrvanna faded to jump out well and Te Hai was quickly in the lead from King Theo, Cyllaros, and Professional. Going along the back Cyllaros ran up quickly to join Te Hai and Free Advice in the lead, ahead of King Theo and Professional. Entering the straight Te Hai and Cyllaros were together in the lead from Professional. Gay Egypt, and Free Advice, with Gay Sister coming fast on the outside. Once they straightened up Gay Sister flashed up on the outside to score by a length from King Theo, who defeated Te Hai by a head. Professional was fourth. Reaching the front quickly, Bellkynan

won the St. Patrick’s Handicap practically all the way to return a good price. King Ford and Adalene were smartest to begin, but Bellkyrian soon ran to the front from King Ford, Whirling, Puss Moth, and Mungacre. Round the home turn Bellkyrian was in command from Whirling, Mungacre, and linpasto, who had moved up on the rails. Bellkyrian stayed on solidly to score by a length and a-half from linpasto, who ran his best race for some time. Whirling was half a length away third, and Adalene was fourth, a head oil. Bellkyrian is at the top of her form, and registered a very solid performance. Taking charge after going about three furlongs, Golden England was never afterwards headed in the Hauraki Plains Steeplechase, and won in good style. Semiarch led early and then gave way to Golden England, who settled down to make the puce from Forest Glow and London, who fell at fhe double the second time. Commencing the last round Golden England was about six lengths clear, but along the back Semiarch and Forest Glow moved up. Three furlongs from home Seiniarch was beaten, and Golden England led into the straight a couple of lengths clear of Forest Glow. Golden England moved outwards at the last fence, but jumped well, and went on to win by two lengths from Forest Glow. Irish Comet battled on to be 12 lengths away third, and Spalpiko was a poor fourth. A protest against the winner was dismissed. R. E. Thomson, rider of Golden England, was suspended until May 31 inclusive for crossing at the last fence. The well-supported Sweet Rose scored in good style in the Waikino Hack Handicap. Triune and Sir Tommy were smartest to begin, Sir Tommy making the running from Triune, Sweet Rose, Blue Needle, and Sing Lee. Entering the straight Sir Tommy held a slight advantage from Sweet Rose, Triune, Red Elaine, and Blue Needle. Sweet Rose finished strongly to score by three parts of a length from Blue Needle, who also ran on solidly. Triune was a head away third, and Sing Lee was fourth.
