Ownership of a gold mine in California. valued at over £1,000,000, is claimed by Mrs Annie Barrett n ‘ the Grange Tea Room, Eldorado Buildinga, West street, Durban. isegotiaUous n.ire been proceeding for years, and now Mrs Barrett anticipates that they will soon be concluded satisfactorily for her. She claims to have deeds proving that the mine belonged to her father. Captain R. M. Kessack, who died in Maritzburg a few years ago. She says he was a descendant of William Smith, who went to America as a young man and bought land on which gold was found. The Bodie mine was later established.
