GENERAL NEWS Mrs Oinbler occupied the chair at the monthly meeting of the St. Luke's Mothers' Union. Archdeacon Russell read the litany and offered special prayer for the-sick members. The Rev. J. M. M'Kenzic gave a very instructive address, speaking of the influence of parents with their children. His message, '" In the Power of the Spirit of God," was greatly appreciated. At the conclusion of his address Mr M'Kenzic was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served. A lecture will be given in the Theosophical Hall, Tees street, to-morrow by Miss Starkcy, whose subject will be " Builders of Empire." A sale of interest to fanners will be held by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. on April 16, when 27 Rainbrook Jersey cows and three specially-selected stud bulls will be offered by public auction, without reserve, on behalf of Mr T. Portis, Airedale.
