“BREAK OF HEARTS”

KATHARINE HEPBURN STARRED “Break of Hearts,” starring Katharine Hepburn, which will commence a season at the Grand Theatre to-day, is said to be one of the most

inspiring pictures which has been filmed in recent years. It is a new Hepburn that comes to the screen in this production and one who is more alluring than ever. In the role of a young composer who marries a famous maestro, she is said to combine all the genius that brought her fame in her previous films with a new-found pictorial beauty and a vibrant warmth of interpretation that is irresistible. Charles Boyer, idol of the French stage and screen, has a magnetic charm that promises to send him to the height of popularity as a result of his work in “ Break of Hearts.” The picture tells the story of the making, breaking and mending of a romance, and not in recent years have such enchanting love scenes been played on the screen as those, between the bewitching Hepburn and Boyer. John Beal, who will be remembered for his portrayal of the title role in “ The Little Minister ” with Miss Hepburn, plays the third romantic role. An interesting feature of the presentation from a feminine point of view is that Miss Hcphnrn is seen in smart, ultra-modern clothes. Her wardrobe was designed by Bernard Newman, internationally famous style creator. The . settings are lovely and the background of symphonic music lends a delightful appeal to the entire picture. A subtle understanding on the part of Philip Moeller, the director, is said to have made “ Break of Hearts ” a thing of beauty and exquisite 'delicacy. The cast includes such wellknown players as .lean Hersholt, Susan Fleming. Inez Courtney, Jean Howard and Helene Millard. On * the same programme will be screened “ The Gay Deception,” a romantife comedy in which the leading roles are taken by Francis Lederer and Frances Dee.
