MANCHESTER UNITY
The Loyal Albion Lodge met in the Manchester Unity Hull, Stuart street, on Thursday evening, when N.G. Bro. It. Hay presided over a good muster of members. A resolution of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Bro. Bunting, a member of some 35 years’ standing. Two new members wore initiated. The N.G. welcomed P.P.G.M. Bro, W. Sullivan, a former permanent secretary of the lodge, who was visiting the lodge after an absence of some years in Wellington. Bro. Sullivan said lie was pleased to renew old acquaintances once again. Although absent for some rears, his interest in the Albion Lodge and the Otago district was very keen. It. appeared to him that the younger ellicers were carrying on the work of the lodge very capably. He congratulated members on the very sound position of the lodge as disclosed by the latest balance sheet, and also on the fact that the membership was the highest in its history. A letter was received from the P.C. Secretary advising that the annual initiation competition would be held on March 21, while the southern area competition was fixed for May 9 at Kaitangata. Nomina-
tions for delegates to the district meeting were received and adjourned until next meeting, when the election would bo hold. Later members were entertained by the trustees at a card evening, Bros. Truosdalo and Sims winning the trophies. At the Loyal Caversham Lodge room members of the Uni I y (1.0.0. F.) Lodge were the guests of the Manchester Unity Lodge, when the half-yearly card i ' 'i was contested. The visitors proved the winners by a small margin, and N.G. Bro. Parker, on behalf of the Caversham brethren, handed over the Card Shield to Unity. The visitors acknowledged the hospitality of the Caversham members, and were Inter entertained to supper.
