NEW ZEALAND. JUNIOR TEAM SPECIAL EVENTS IN SYDNEY SYDNEY, March 9. (Received March 10, at 0.30 a.m.) The New Zealanders showed up well in a number of special events at the New South Wales lawn tennis tournament to-day, the outstanding achievement being J. Gunn’s defeat of L. King, holder of the under 21 years championship, 6—4, 3—G, B—6. Gunn, according to his team mates, played the best game of his career. Bedford and Gunn, in a men’s special Doubles, beat a strong pair, N. Harper and H. Rice, jun., 6—4, 6—3. Brown and Mayson, who revealed their best form since their arrival, extended H. Lindon and J. Gilchrist, the latter pair winning 6—3, 3—6, 6 —2. Other results included : BOYS’ SINGLES UNDER 21. Corich defeated Pattinson, 3 —6, 6—l, B—6. Bedford defeated R. Pranki, 6—l, 6—l. BOYS’ SINGLES UNDER 19. Painter lost to J. Gilchrist, I—6,1 —6, 2—6. MEN’S SPECIAL SINGLES. Bedford lost to N. Harper, I—6, 6—l, 5 Corich lost to A. Crawford, 2—6, 3—6. BOYS’ DOUBLES UNDER 19. Pattinson and Painter defeated L. Ellcrman and G. Plunkett, 6—l, 5—7, 6 BOYS’ DOUBLES UNDER 15. Painter and D. Pails bent R. Sutherland and K. Yarrard, 6—3. | MIXED DOUBLES UNDER 21. Mayson and Miss Mac Smith v. A. Felan and Miss R. Colbert, 6—4, 5 —7 (unfinished). MIXED DOUBLES UNDER 19. Pattinson and Miss C. Bubb v. G Henley and Miss N. Peach, 6—l, 6—3.
