DUNEDIN GUN CLUB

Saturday was to have been "Ladies' Day "'with the Dunedin Gun Club, but owing to the sudden change in the weather it was decided to postpone " Ladies' Day" until Saturday, March 21. In spite of the inclemency of the weather a good muster of members turned up to the meeting, and an informal shoot was held. The first match was a 12-Bird Handicap, which was fired under very unpleasant conditions. Steady rain fell throughout the match, and the competitors were shooting into the teeth of a strong southerly gale which played havoc with the targets, making their flight very erratic. Mr S. F. Aburn (13yds) and Dr Grecnsladc (12yds) both shot well, and tied with 11 breaks each. They were followed by W. R. Morland (12yds) 9. J. B. Craigie (11yds) 9, R. M'Donald (19yds) 8, W. Morland (11yds) 8, J. K. Begs (12vds) 8, R. Bruce (11yds) 8, C. F. Williams (13yds) 7, D. A. M'Leod (11yds) 7. In the shoot-off which followed Dr Greenslade missed his nineteenth bird, leaving S. F. Aburn the winner. The next match was a Six-bird Quail Drive, in which S. F. Aburn again shot well, scoring the possible, six birds (five with the first barrel). W. R. Morland was second with five birds, W. Elliott third with four birds, followed by six competitor with three birds each. Mr T. Long was the referee.
