AMATEUR ATHLETICS

TOKOMAIRIRO SPORTS The Tokomairiro Amateur Athletic Club's annual sports meeting was held at Milton on Saturday afternoon. In spite of the inclement weather, a large contingent of athletes and cyclists journeyed from Dunedin, and there were large entries in all events. Intermittent showers were experienced throughout the afternoon, but the meeting was run oil' without delay. A. A. Cameron, the holder of four New Zealand titles, was slightly indisposed and was able to compete in only one event. Competition was keen and some good finishes were witnessed. The meeting was controlled by the following officials:—Mr A. B. Littleiohn, president; track judges—Messrs J. Murray, J. Morris, and W. H. Graham; field events—Messrs R. A. M'Gregor, G. Maloney; starter, Mr M. Walker, assisted by Messrs T. M. Brydone (secretary Otago Centre), C. K. Heaton, and B. R. M'Kernan (handieapper). On account of the soft state of the track it was found necessary to hold the cycle races on the road. The first race was from the Sports Grounds to Milburn and back, approximately six miles, while the second was a two-mile handicap, one mile, from the grounds.and return. These races were ably, controlled by members of the Dunedin Amateur Cycling Club, assisted by local officials. The following are the results:— 100 YARDS HANDICAP, First Heat.-J.
