OBITUARY
MR F. R. HOGARTH (Pek United Press Association; WELLINGTON, January 13. The death has occurred of Mr Francis Rae Hogarth, an old resident of Wellington. Mr Hogarth was born in Geelong, Victoria, and came to New Zea land with his parents when he was eigh. years of age. He was well known in business circles and was chairman of directors of the Golden Bay Cement Company and a director of the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation and the Grey Valley Collieries. (Received Jan. 13, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr ‘Allan Monkhouse, critic, novelist and dramatist, who was closely associated with the Repertory Theatre movement in the early days in Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool, died yesterday at his Cheshire home; aged 77. Hornby, who fought with Lawrence of Arabia and supplied the professional knowledge for blowing up railways, as recounted in “ The Seven Pillars of Wisdom.”
