UNDER SEALED ORDERS
THE JOSEPH CONRAD
MELBOURNE, January 13. (Received Jan. 34, at 1 a.m.) Carrying a party of scientists and botanists, the Joseph Conrad, the only British full-rigged sailing ship afloat, which arrived at Melbourne last week after sailing round the world on the route of Captain Cook’s Endeavour, will leave at the end of the week on a mysterious Pacific cruise. Mr A. J. Villicrs, owner and master of the little vessel, sa : d to-day that he was sailing under scaled orders and would not know his destination till lie was at sea. It is believed that the cruise includes Auckland, and that the intention is to seek gold on certain Pacific islands.
