UNEMPLOYMENT
WORKERS’ MOVEMENT MEETING The executive of the Dunedin Central branch of the National Unemployed Workers’ Movement held its meeting on Saturday night, Cr M. Silverstone presiding. Correspondence from members and various other organisations was read and dealt with. Several complaints in regard to reduction in allocations, boots and blankets, and a shortage in bonus payments were left in the secretary’s hands to be dealt with. The organising report was received and considered satisfactory, 11 new members having joined up since the last meeting. The Social Committee reported that the final arrangements for the monster treat to the unemployed in the Early Settlers' Hall on Wednesday, January 22, were well in hand. It was agreed that the secretary should give a review of the past year’s activities of the National Unemployed Workers’ Movement af the general meeting on Tuesday. After the general business had been dealt with, the executive held a roundtable discussion on the proposed change in the unemployment situation when the Government meets in February.
