BEHIND THE SCENES
NAZIS AT VARIANCE THE STRUGGLE FOR POWER LONDON, January 10. (Received Jan. 12, at 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Herald declares that Herr Hitler's Ministers are waging an implacable mutual war in which personal feuiK have culminated in an open struggle for supremacy under the close scrutiny of leading industrialists, army and Nazi officials, who realise that, they may ye*: be compelled to take sides. The most bitter quarrel is Dr Schacht against Dr Goebbels and Herr Ley. While cynically watchful, General Gocring admits to favouring a coup d'etat by tho army rather than allowing. Dr Goebbels and Herr Ley to secure supreme power. General Blombcrg, who is strongest of all, stands aloof. He is aware that the army is ready to follow him to a man wherever he may lead. Herr Hitler still stands by Herr Schacht, but the Fuhrer's position is not what it was. He is confronted with a Cabinet decree to subnvt speeches to Ministers before publication, consequently the press arc excluded from his important meetings and his speeches are not being broadcast until an approved version has been recorded on the gramophone.
