CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —I was most interested to read "Wage Earner's ” letter in Tuesday morning’s paper, and must say he expresses exactly my own sentiments. Until recently I have always supported the Labour Party, and it received my vote for both the parliamentary and the municipal elections. After hearing the correct story regarding the appointment of a manager to the Electric Power and Lighting Department’s George street showroom I have changed my views.. The gentleman who was in charge of the showroom until recently is throughout the electrical trade as a man of wide experience and ability. Yet he has had to suffer the injustice of an inexperienced man being placed over him. I can only hope that, if a change of office takes place in the council, this officer will be recompensed for the treatment that has been meted out to him under the Labour banner. In conclusion, will Dr M'Millan please advise the public of Dunedin what qualifications the newly-appointed manager had for such a position other than that he is a political supporter of Dr M’Millan? — I am, etc.. Fair Play.
