BUILDING BOOM

FULL SWING IN BRITAIN BENEFICIAL EFFECT ON UNEMPLOYMENT (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 28. After attending the Parliamentary Association's Conference in London, Mr Mark Fagan, M.L.C., and Mr Peter Fraser, M.P., returned by the Mcnowai. Mr Fagan commented that there was a great building boom in Britain. England was virtually in the process of being rebuilt, with a consequent spread of employment. " The unspent income or savings of the people of Britain amount roughly to £250,000,000 annually," he said. "A large proportion of this wealth, formerly loaned to other countries, is now invested in the building industry. The unemployment figures show a decrease of nearly 1,000,000 in the last two years, and the building boom is responsible for at least 80 per cent, of this improvement."
