TOWN PLANNING

ANNUAL MEETING OF INSTITUTE NEED FOR REGIONAL SURVEYS, (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 25. The New Zealand Town Planning Institute, through its council, will urge on the Government the necessity for immediately undertaking regional surveys. The subject was discussed at the annual meeting of the institute to-day. ,It was suggested that aerial surveys offered a rapid and economical means of arriving at a basis from which \v9rk in a very wide field could be done. The conference was opened by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Sir Alexander Young, who is chairman of the Town Planning Board. He said it was gratifying to know that the majority of local authorities which were under statutory obligation to prepare schemes were making an honest endeavour to get on with this important work. The work of the board was steadily growing, and the indications were that it had a busy time ahead.
