INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND

TOURING BAND CONCERT The touring band of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind will give concerts in the Dunedin Town Hall on Sunday and Monday evenings. The band consists of 20 members under the control of Bandmaster Lieutenant Bowes. Sir Clutlia Mackenzie and his secretary, Mr Frayling, will accompany the party. Reports from northern centres indicate the enthusiastic receptions which the band is receiving. The vigour and precision of the playing is evidenced in stirring marches, and the players show their versatility in changes from sonorous hymns to quick-moving fantasias and to dreamy serenades. Many of the members are able to play on two or more instruments, and even the youngest member, Julian Lee, who is 12 years of age, performs with skill on both cornet and piano.
