WORK OF SESSION

END EXPECTED ON FRIDAY THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN MEMBERS BECOMING RESTIVE (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 21. The Prime Minister, Mr G. W. Forbes, stated to-night that the Government hoped to complete the business of the session this week. “We should be able to finish by Friday night,” said Mr Forbes, “ although it may be necessary to call the House together on Saturday morning purely for the formal business of adjourning.” Mr Forbes said that as much legislation as possible would be dealt with, but it was probable that a good many of the measures on the Order Paper and others which had been contemplated would be shelved. Members were very anxious to get away to their constituencies in order to commence their election campaigns. The Prime Minister hopes to pay a visit to his electorate during the coming week-end. He has one or two engagements there early next week, after which he will return to the North Island and proceed to Napier, where he is to address a Chamber of Commerce gathering. After that he proposes to commence his campaign in Hurunui, and, if sufficient time is available, to make a brief tour of the Dominion. He will return to Ins electorate for some final campaigning before the general election.
