JUBILEE SWEEP
SHARE TICKETS IN “ TATTS ” BRISBANE SALES ILLEGAL. \ warning that the sale of share tickets for the £50,000 Jubilee Sweep, and also the £12,000 sweep being conducted by Tattcrsall’a on the Melbourne Cup is illegal in Queensland lias been issued by the superintendent of traffic, Sub-inspector J. Smith, who stated that Brisbane was being inundated with books of such share tickets and much literature on the subject from a southern organisation. The police, Sub-inspector Smith said, intended to take action to prevent the distribution, and intending purchasers of the share tickets should realise that they had no guarantee of collecting their winnings. The management of Tattersails’ on a recent result slip, had stated that it did not issue share tickets and would accept no responsibility for them. However, a southern organisation had apparently purchased a number of £1 tickets for the Jubilee Sweep, and was distributing them throughout Brisbane in the form of books of 10 receipts at 3s each. Consequently a profit of 10s was made ou every £1 ticket.
