WOMEN’S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.
Reports of meetings of branches are requested, but they should be furnished promptly, for the publication of reports that are not supplied within a week from the date of the meeting cannot be assured.
The Momona branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its meeting on Thursday evening. Mrs J. A. McDonald presided. “A display of antique articles ” was on view. The written competition, “ Jumbled Groceries, was won by Miss Etta Baird, with Mrs Wilson second.
'flic Warrington branch met on Wednesday when Airs M'Aleese presided._ Arrangements were made to hold the birthday social and donations were to be sent to the Hydatid Research Fund and to the Health Camp Campaign. Hostesses were Mesdames Brady and Jenkins.
The Otakou branch celebrated its fifth birthday at the Otakou Hall, which was decorated with greenery and streamers of red, white, blue and green. The first part of the programme consisted of items rendered by members of the branch — W.D. soil" by all, solos by Miss Claire and Mrs Bode, elocutionary item by Miss Baker, pois and action son" by the Maori members, two short sketches, and song by Mrs Taiaroa and Airs Geary. The cutting of the cake followed. The president of Alacandrew Bay Institute, Airs Gibson, lit Hie candles and Airs Boss (president of the Broad Bay Institute) extinguished the lighted candles. The president of the Portobello Women’s Division branch then proceeded to cut the cake, which was handed round to all present. Dancing completed the evening’s entertainment.
