A Strong Team Some idea of the numerical strength og F. J. The list is made up as follows: —Nelson Luvan (five), War Paint (four). Bonny Azure, Rayon D’Or and Nellotta (three each), Pearl Parrish, Television, Baron Alfonson, Travis, War Officer, King’s Warrior and Worthy Light (two each), Mapula and Nell Volo. The appearance or the Australian pacers Evicus and Eimilius Way, added interest to the training at Addington on Saturday, and though they were not sent against the watch, says the Press, they did a very pleasing work-out over two miles, which occupied 4min 41 3-ssec, the first mile in 2rain 25sec. Emilias Way made practically all the running, but Evicus drew up in the straight and the pair passed the post on even terms. Fernbrook Lass trailed the visitors all the way, but was not on a record-break-ing mission. Evicus, who will start off 12 yards behind in the New Zealand Cup, is a very fine pacer and with her stable-mate she will make her first public appearance at the Oamaru meeting next Monday. Emilius Way will contest the Oamaru Jubilee Handicap from a 4min 30sec mark, and later will be engaged iu important events at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Chib’s meeting nest month. In Chancellor, Gamble, and Graham Direct Emilius Way will attempt to give 12 yards’ start to three very fine pacers that are at the top of their form. Evicus is engaged amongst the star performers in the Weston Handicap" and handily placed on 12 yards behind her first appearance is keenly awaited. Many good horses have been brought from Australia at different periods, and Evicus and Emilius Way are in the highest class. The owner, Mr G. IT. Rudd, is to be congratulated on the enterprise he Lias shown in bringing his two champions to New Zealand and any success that may come his way will be well received.
