BOXING LIGHT-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, May 11. (Received May 12/at 6.30 p.m.) Tony Canzoneri staged a sensational upset at Madison Square Garden to-night by regaining the light-weight championship through a clear-cut victory over Lou Ambers for a 15-round decision. The referee and the two judges were unanimous for Canzoneri on points. The fighters weighed 1331 b and 13331 b respectively. Canzoneri lost the championship in 1933. The champion Barney Ross recently relinquished the crown as he was overweight. Sporting opinion favoured Ambers owing to his youth and hitting ability, but Canzoneri out-boxed him throughout. He was on ihe verge of scoring a knockout in the third round, when he twice had Ambers on the floor. ROWING AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, May 12. (Received May 12, at 6.30 p.m.) For the third successive year New South Wales won the King’s Cup for the Eight-oared Championship of Australia, and Turner, of New South Wales, established a record performance in winning the Australian Sculling Championship for the fourth successive year. (Received May 12, at 6.30 p.m.) The Northern Union championship final resulted in Swinton defeating Warrington by 14 points to 3.
