INDIAN DOCKERS
STRIKE ON HOOGHLY RIVER SERIOUS CLASHES REPORTED CALCUTTA, November 28. (Received March 28, at 10 p.m.) Fifty big cargo steamers are held up and the whole waterfront is deserted on the River Hooghly at Calcutta as a result of a dockers' strike involving many thousands of men, who are demanding higher wages and fewer working hours. Serious clashes have occurred between the strikers and ' loyal workers.
