CYCLING THE CENTENARY THOUSAND. : (United Press Association.) (By. Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, October 20. (Received Oct. 21, at 5.5 p.m.) France, Italy and Ne'- Zealand, as well as Australia, are represented in the Centenary Thousand Cycling Race, which began this morning. It is described as the largest, hardest and l-ichest ever staged in the British Empire, and has attracted 100 entries, including Harry Watson, of New Zealand, and Continental champions in Paul Chocque, Terrand and Methoward (France) and Nino and Borsari (Italy). Australia'* champions include Opperman, R. W. Lamb, 0. Nicholson, W. Stuart, J. B'uckley and-- H. Marshall. The race covers 1000 miles round Victoria, including mountains. The prize money is £2600, and the race will end on October 27. FIRST STAGE DECIDED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, October 21. (Received Oct. 21, at 11.30 p.m.) The first stage of the Centenary Thousand Cycle Race, Melbourne to Warrnambool (165 miles), was won by F. Strubenrauch. The A Grade sprint into Camperdown, 133 miles, was won by Oppermao by two lengths from Len Hill, Jxew Zealand.
RELAY RUN SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, October 21. (Received Oct. 21, at 8 p.m.) On the final stage of the relay run from Sydney, W. Kerapson, captain of the Footscray Harriers, reached Melbourne Town Hall at noon yesterday and delivered complimentary despatches to the Lord Mayor. The relay runners covered 597 miles between Sydney and Melbourne in 55 hours 47 minutes. The Collingwood Harriers yesterday completed a four days' relay run from Canberra, arriving five minutes ahead of schedule. WRESTLING BOUTS IN SYDNEY. (United Press Association.)
